https://lnkd.in/ehC62GtAI posted a while ago that I was working on an exciting proposition for freelance and interim people pros and after a long and winding journey it'll be here in a couple of months - big gulp! Picture the scene - a supportive community for freelance/interim HR pros, connecting you to great gigs, to awesome experts who can help you get better in business and to carefully curated partners who can help you to deliver your services to your clients.Led by our values of win-win-win, together is best and be kind, gighrly (pronounced gig-er-ly) is the culmination of much thinking about my own experience over the past 14 years as an HR gigger, along with research (aka talking to lots of people pros), planning out a business model that could actually work and leading with a purpose to create an ecosystem which is based on prosperity for all its stakeholders. On a personal note those of you who know me, know that I work with clients on their business and operating models all the time and yet when it comes to my own I've had such an imposter syndrome setting in - I've had to get out of my way and drink the medicine I dish out to my clients all the time. Yes, it's scary and exciting in equal measure and I couldn't have even got this far without the moral and physical support from so many of my friends here on LinkedIn. And for our development phase, I need your help if you're a freelance, fractional or interim people pro to help me shape the platform. Please follow the gighrly page to learn more about our proposition, how it will work (once I've worked that out myself! 😁) and how you can be part of it. #gighrly #hrgigs #gigboard

It’s day 2 working from a garage after my up-to-now faithful workhorse of a car failed it’s MOT yesterday! ☹️All my plans for today were scuppered so I thought I’d take time out of worrying about work and doing chores for mum and instead finish a pet in pencil portrait commission that I’ve been working on over a few weeks in whatever spare time I can garner. The story is so sad as the person who commissioned it soon won’t get to see their fur babies every day. 😢 I’m in danger of overworking it but as it’s my first paid commission I’m going all out! Next pet in pencil commission - a very fluffy cat. 🐈⬛ Commission fees from this project will go to the Alzheimer’s Society. #petsinpencil#petportaits#hobbyhustle

This post from Ken Corey hits the spot for me. It’s easier said than done though, so I’d always recommend working with experts to help manage the change journey for leaders. And I know that Ken and Debra Corey are some of the best experts out there! 👇👇👇

I don’t get my glad rags out often but once a year I dust myself off and spruce myself up and hit the event that is the #Bamboozletheatrecompany gala fundraiser. Once again the Bamboozle team pulled it out of the bag with a night full of stars and song. Some amazing auction lots including signed memorabilia from our patron Bella Ramsey who wrote and read a moving forward from a book written by my fellow trustee’s daughter, who has grown up with and been inspired by Bamboozle. The tissues were out in full force when we heard from parents whose children have been given a voice through the magical Bamboozle experience. An awe inspiring evening made all the better being with these fab and formidable females! Keeley Baigent Eloise Shelton and Rhiannon Rees (nee Stafford) 😍😍😍

My daughter and I were served by an amazing human being at a fast food outlet last night. We could have gone to the screen, placed our order, paid and not spoken to anyone. Instead I took my daughter to the counter and to a human who greeted me with a genuine smile, asked me how my day was and replied with more than just ‘fine’ when I asked him the same, as he gathered our order - And it felt good. 😌 My daughter was gobsmacked at this ‘interaction’ and said it was the best customer experience she’d witnessed for a long time (she’s 15). We wouldn’t have got that from the very ‘efficient’ screens she said (one was turned off for repair). She then remarked that it’s the ‘little human things’ like showing kindness and interest in someone that make for a positive customer experience. I tend to agree. #cx #humanconnection #healthybalance

I recently had the pleasure of attending #theGreatGeekTogether, brilliantly hosted by the joyful Michelle Hartley FCIPD. While many peeps have rightly praised the line up of diverse and inspiring speakers, I also want to shine a light on those (including Michelle herself) who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event a success. From months of planning to the day of execution, I know how much effort it’s taken for Michelle and all concerned and the attention to detail was awe inspiring. Being the purpose-led human she is, Michelle wanted to create connection, and was driven to make a day full of joy for her Geek squad members and allies. There was no stone left unturned, no detail left to change. I sit here contemplating all the behind the scenes work:🔹 Logistics Management: Venue booking, seating arrangements, tech setup, catering coordination, sweet ordering, goodie bag procurement and compilation, QR code creating, presentations, branding, marketing, setting up ticketing... and I'm sure there's more!🔹 Communication: Coordinating with speakers, partners, event organisations, venue and attendees - ensuring the event management tech works, managing RSVPs, answering questions - and the patience of a saint springs to mind.🔹 Technical Support: Ensuring mics worked, presentations ran smoothly, and any tech hiccups were addressed before they happened. Such a crucial factor in the audience experience but so often considered hygiene.🔹 On-the-Day Support: Volunteers and event staff who greeted attendees, managed registrations, held speakers to time, ensured attendees were fed, watered and happy and that everything ran seamlessly. 🔹 Flexibility and Problem-Solving: Things rarely go exactly as planned, and it takes quick thinking and collaboration to address any last-minute changes or challenges that arise. I for one didn't notice a thing but can be sure there were some hiccups that were expertly dealt with!Events like these remind me that behind every successful moment are countless hours of unseen work by dedicated individuals and many sleepless nights on the host's part. So those of you who went last Friday, please join me in thanking Michelle Hartley FCIPD and all those that didn't just make it happen but created lasting memories of connection and gratitude. Thank you! 🎉👏#EventPlanning #TeamWork #Gratitude #Geekitude #EventSuccess #BehindTheScenes Picture: Strawberry Gratitude from greetingsisland.com
