Multiplayer is an ever-growing part of video games. Players can reach out to compete or cooperate with other gamers across the world, all without leaving their seats. Crossplay is becoming more and more of a buzzword in multiplayer games. Allowing PlayStation 5 and Xbox to play, not just with each other but with PC players as well, only expands a game's player base and widens the playing field.

However, not every game has crossplay. Legal issues, balance concerns, or sheer brand loyalty can keep a game's multiplayer tied to a single platform, even if that game itself isn't exclusive. Fortunately, plenty of the most popular games right now have launched with crossplay or added it later, only broadening the thrilling multiplayer cross-platform gaming experience. No matter the preferred method to play, there are so many Playstation, Xbox, Switch, Mobile, and PC cross-platform games to choose from.
Updated on November 9, 2024 by Robbie Robinson: There's only one thing that gamers love more than gaming - gaming with friends. For too long, console and PC players have been divided between their games. A new age is dawning, however. Recently, tons of PC only games have moved to console, opening up exciting cross-platform gameplay. For those looking to find a new game to hop into with a friend, this list has been updated to include more of the greatest crossplay games available.

35 Phasmophobia Is a Mix of Terror and Shenanigans
Crossplay On: PlayStation, Xbox, PC
Finally, Phasmophobia has made its way to consoles. With a perfectly spooky October release, console friends can now play with PC friends. Phasmophobia can either be the scariest game ever or the silliest game ever. Going ghost hunting with a couple of buddies can actually be all fun and games. Players will load up their van and head to the chosen level. When entering, players will get a couple of important pieces of information, such as the ghost's name and how it responds to people. Then, it's up to the players to collect evidence, correctly guess the ghost type and survive.

Things can go south pretty quickly in Phasmophobia. It's not a game for the faint of heart, as the ghost hunts paired with locked doors and frightening sounds are truly haunting. It takes a brave soul to willingly go in alone and talk to a ghost that only responds to individual people. Despite the terror it can cause, Phasmophobia is tons of fun, and when played with the right people, that can make up for the scares.

34 Overcooked! All You Can Eat Is Capable of Destroying Friendships
Crossplay On: PC, Switch, PlayStation, Xbox
✕ Remove Ads
Overcooked is a delightful, chaotic mess that has the power to make or break a relationship. This is, arguably, one of the highest stress level games in existence. So much so, that it almost feels completely nefarious. The premise is simple. Gather up a group of chefs, get in the kitchen and serve orders on time. Sure, the first few levels are perfectly easy. It seems like a game full of wonder, love and friendship. Players get to take on the form of a cute little chef and bop into each other in the kitchen.
All hell breaks loose very, very quickly. The orders don't stop. Some dishes are much more involved than others. Not to mention the ridiculous map hazards that teeter between slightly annoying and downright diabolical. Then, all of a sudden, players will find that there are far too many cooks in the kitchen. Overcooked is capable of generating the same type of rage and gratification found in a Souls game. For anyone willing to test the limits of their relationships, they're in luck because this game is cross-platform.

33 PowerWash Simulator Is Mindless and Relaxing
Crossplay On: PC and Xbox
Ah, yes, a simulator for a job that is actually far more exhausting in person than it is in game. PowerWash Simulator is nothing super special, but that's actually its charm point. Players can take on interesting levels, gear up and spend hours cleaning every inch of every surface. That includes roofs, birdhouses and even large machinery sitting in yards.
PowerWash Simulator even has a Spongebob collab, allowing players to clean the barnacle grime off of Bikini Bottom. Of course, this game can be enjoyed solo. It offers a break from the stress of real life. However, tackling big projects with friends is always entertaining. The game keeps it interesting enough, as there is plenty of new equipment and soaps for players to aim for. It's just a satisfying game all around.

32 Apex Legends Is an Addictive Battle Royale
Crossplay On: PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch
While some gamers grow weary and bored with battle royale-style games, other games just can't stay away. It's all to easy for players to say, "one more game," a million times over. Apex Legends has had a steady stream of players since its release. It was honestly released at a perfect time, as worn-out Fortnite players were growing sick of the ridiculous build battles. Apex Legends managed to make itself standout among great battle royale games, such as PubG. That's all thanks to the diverse and interesting roster of playable characters.

In classic fashion, players can drop solo or in a group. It's a scramble for guns and loot before players start taking shots at one another. Apex Legends' characters are each equipped with different kits and abilities. That calls for strategic gameplay, making it all the more engrossing. Apex Legends is a great game for players looking to link up with friends across platforms and get some wins. Or many losses.

31 Valorant Makes Players Learn a New Trick
Crossplay On: PlayStation and Xbox
✕ Remove Ads
Valorant is now playable for gamers on consoles. Many gamers have likened it to Overwatch because of its growing cast of characters, rich story and team-based fights. However, Valorant actually requires a lot more tactical gameplay from players. A typical Valorant match has two teams - one side tries to plant a bomb, while the other side tries to prevent that. Most FPS gamers are used to shooting while running. After all, it makes the most sense to attempt to avoid damage.
Valorant forces players to be quick-witted, but patient. A huge game mechanic is forcing players to stop moving forward while shooting. Shooting while moving forward will cause loads of inaccuracy. Valorant is by no means an easy game to get into. It can be frustrating and very punishing for new players. Valorant has chosen to separate its console and PC pools, as PC players have too much of an advantage.

30 Tekken 8 Avoids Its Even-Numbered Curse In One of Its Best Entries Yet
Crossplay On: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Tekken has long been the subject of the "even-number curse." For every great Tekken game like Tekken 3 and Tekken 5, a disappointing game followed in Tekken 4 or Tekken 6. This even extended to Tekken Tag Tournament where Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was such a financial disappointment that almost derailed the entire franchise. Tekken fans were reasonably concerned that Tekken 8 would kill any positive momentum gained by the amazing Tekken 7.

Thankfully, that wasn't the case as Tekken 8 has received critical acclaim since its January release, garnering the highest Metacritic score in the franchise since Tekken 3. 29 The First Descendant Presents a Fun, Free-To-Play Loot Shooter Experience
Crossplay On: PlayStation, Xbox, PC
Quietly, Nexon dropped one of the biggest shooters of the year with The First Descendant. It’s a free-to-play title that throws players into a new world where humanity is struggling to survive against a threat known only as the Invaders. As Descendants, players are given powerful weapons and armor to survive against the Invaders, serving as humanity’s last hope.
✕ Remove Ads
Perhaps what helps The First Descendant stand out is its focus isn’t entirely on multiplayer. There’s a story for players to follow along with, meaning they can play solo or with up to four players to experience the world. It’s a little grindy considering it’s free-to-play, but it’s still something players can spend dozens of hours with.

Microtransactions have no place in a full-priced console game, but they do make sense to some degree in a free-to-play gacha game like Genshin Impact. Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game with heavy online and gacha elements. Its art style, gameplay, and open world will quickly remind new players of recent The Legend of Zelda games like Tears of the Kingdom.
Genshin Impact's community is robust and passionate, so it isn't tough to get help and find people to play with. With others or alone, there is plenty to do in Genshin Impact and its crossplay functionality ensures its world is always populated. Whether it's tackling domains or exploring the vast, yet gorgeous landscapes of Teyvat, Genshin is plenty of fun for friends.

Roblox adheres to anyone's greatest creative impulses. Like LittleBigPlanet and Dreams, Roblox is designed for players to play, create, and share their own games. Its simplistic creation system makes it easy for players of all ages to make whatever comes to mind. It's worth noting that in-game purchases should be monitored for any young player.
Even though Roblox was first released in 2006, it gained immense popularity in the 2010s. In October 2023, Roblox finally made its way to PlayStation systems where crossplay awaits new players. Thanks to crossplay, players have access to an unfathomable amount of content with new and exciting games playable daily. Grounded not only has a co-op campaign though, but a survival mode that players can play endlessly. 22 EA Sports FC 24 Brings the World Together Like the Sport It's Based On
Crossplay On: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC

The EA Sports FC, formally FIFA, series has been the premier football (soccer) simulator since the mid-1990s. However, there was a brief hiatus during Pro Evolution's peak in the early to mid-2000s. The latest game in the series may be yet another version of the game that features predatory tactics in its Ultimate Team mode but it's still the most advanced game of its kind by a long way.
Players are able to team up with, and go against, friends on the last two generations of Xbox and PlayStation (though play between generations isn't possible) as well as PC. The player pool is so enormous that finding a game is remarkably easy at any time of day. Sticking to traditional modes like Seasons is more than enough to help the traditional EA Sports FC/FIFA experience reemerge from the shadows.

The Halo series has struggled to recapture the magic that the first three games managed to create, but Halo Infinite is probably the closest they've got. The competitive scene for the game is also significant, but more casual players can enjoy a slice of that in the game's various multiplayer modes. Though crossplay can be disabled, matchmaking is entirely open with no priority for those on the same platform. That means that it's just as likely to be a mixed lobby as one localized to the same console.

Rocket League
Hands down, Rocket League is one of the greatest concepts in the history of video games. There’s no way to explain what type of game it is because there’s truly never been anything like it. When Rocket League was first released in 2015, the gaming world paused, and collectively speculated what it would be like. It’s a sports game, but with cars, but it isn't a racing game? Not something easy to wrap your head around. If you haven’t played it before, just believe us when we tell you, the chance of you loving this game is very high. Rocket League is known in the community as one of the most addicting games you can play.

18 Chivalry 2 Sees PlayStation and Xbox Players Clash Swords
Crossplay On: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
Developer Torn Banner Studios had a significant job on their hands when working on the sequel for the wildly enjoyable (and successful) Chivalry. Thankfully, they did an incredible job improving on the solid foundations they'd created. The medieval hack-n-slash doesn't have a campaign, instead choosing to place players in huge pitched battles that aim to provide a deeply realistic rendition of combat in the era.

Visually, it's a stunning and gritty experience that delivers mud and blood in equal measure. Players are able to take on a number of different classes/roles, from mounted knights to the humble and occasionally hilarious lute player, whose sole purpose seems to be only to bring joy to the battlefield. Though it may not be for everyone, Chivalry 2 is a barrel of fun for those willing to give it a chance and crossplay allows PlayStation, Xbox, and PC users to play together.

17 Street Fighter 6 Continues Street Fighter's Long History With Crossplay
Crossplay On: PlayStation, Xbox, and PC

As a game, Street Fighter 6 might seem to be the more sanitized cousin of the Mortal Kombat series, but as the true OG of the fighting genre, it does remain at the top of the tree. With over seven years between this and the last game, fans had a long time to wait. When it did eventually arrive in the middle of 2023, there was almost nothing to be disappointed with aside from some inevitable balancing issues.
Though it does have an impressive single-player campaign, the focus on multiplayer is clear, with crossplay available between consoles and PC and support for up to 16 players. It's nothing new as Capcom has utilized crossplay since the PS3 and Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken in 2012. SF6 is full of casual options are there for those who just want to have fun and competitive paths are hugely populated and rewarding for those willing to put the time in. If 2023 was the year of the fighting game, SF6 led the charge.

16 Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel Provides an Online Version of the Yu-Gi-Oh Experience
Crossplay On: PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, iOS, Android
It’s true, the game of Yu-Gi-Oh isn’t anything like it was when the anime was around. However, it’s still an addicting game for players to get into, and it's easier than ever thanks to Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. It’s packed with microtransactions, but honestly, that’s exactly like the real life game.
Master Duel might take some getting used to from players used to the physical game. Every game is a best-of-one, raising the stakes considerably since there’s no opportunity to learn from one’s mistakes. Still, Master Duel has become one of the most popular card games on the market, no doubt thanks partially to its crossplay feature.
